Delta Aquariid Meteor Shower Empty Delta Aquariid Meteor Shower

Post by Dragon Thu Jul 09, 2020 3:58 am

The Southern Delta Aquariids are a meteor shower visible from mid July to mid August each year with peak activity on 28 or 29 July. The shower originated from the breakup of what are now the Marsden and Kracht Sungrazing comets.

Their radiant—the point in the sky from which the Delta Aquariids appear to come from—is the constellation Aquarius.

The third brightest star within this constellation is called Delta. This star and the constellation is also where we get the name for the shower: Delta Aquariids.

Occurs during: July 12 – August 23
