That's awful they made you wait a year!
I remember you saying last summer you were still waiting, and they only just saw you? ... awful. The NHS is great but their waiting times are out of control, especially for urgent things , like pain... taking joy out of people's quality of life.. it should always be a priority. I'm so glad you have gone though and they've put you on something, is it helping you so far? how are you feeling on it?
Holistic teams can be good, I mean.. they do acupuncture and I guess that's been proven to help (some) kinds of pain. It's worth trying it out if you're offered it, saves you paying to try it privately. Last time I inquired about acupuncture in a clinic I was told it'd be sixty quid.. so if you get offered it and you aren't needle phobic give it a try1. It helped my friend Kim with fibro, my mother was offered it and backed out at the last minute but apparently it's good for spine pain.
I notice that with the NHS it takes a while they start off with rubbish pain meds but the more you go to the pain clinic appointments and the more you try , the more they take you seriously. I had to battle for about nine years with my fibro for them to treat the pain properly and today its about 90% gone, (on meds) but it shows them I tried everything. You're doing good , good luck please let us know how you get on with it
